age:13 I live in Hawkes Bay.My face is blured if you think there's something wierd about it. My hobbies include ice hockey,cross country running,volleyball,table tennis, and pool. Im am mad that people destroy these rare plants because they are really something to be proud of. I think this website will show people what the limestone barrens are really about and maybe they will find a respect the plants and help protect them. The limestone barrens located in Port aux Choix, NL. It also runs down the coast to raleigh. There 104 rare plants here. Three of them is only found here. Alot of human activities such as, 4-wheelers, snowmobiles and dirtbikes,etc., are causing an ecosystem at risk. Natural occurances such as erosion also cause this. We must protect these plants for people of other generations to see. some facts about plants!
- Calcife only grows in calcium enriched soil.
- Braya only grows on the limestone barrens.
- fernals and lanse braya are only located in the limestone barrens.
- Braya's and other plants start food chains. If the plants are extinced, many animals may be extinced too.
- Plants growing span lasts 110 days or less.

Nov.29 to Dec.1st............. orla kenny comes and we monitor some of our surroundings.She gets us to take pictures of our homes and gets us to do a map of our school. She also makes art by altering the polaroid pictures to make it look different.For the next few months we hope to get more pictures of our surroundings. Surroundings in our school,home, community. We put these surroundings under cateragories such as technology, heritage, leisure play/sport, etc.
